Seaside Mercantile

About SeaSide Mercantile and Shard Pottery of Maine

Victoria Rattigan owner of Shard Pottery of Maine and Sunshine Mechtenberg owner of Seaside Mercantile have joined together to bring to you a collection of unique and thought out seaside products with their new website.

In 1985, Artist Victoria Rattigan began selling her handmade pottery to gift shops along the New England coastline.  The first stores to sell her line of pottery were The Admiral Buttons in Camden and Leila Day's Antiques in Castine.  Today both of these wonderful stores continue to sell Shard Pottery in their shops and have plenty of stories to tell their customers of all the colorful changes that have made Victoria's designs what they are today.

Sunshine joined on with Shard Pottery in the mid-90's as the company's marketing and sales manager.  With the experience gained from being a part of the cottage gift industry she opened Seaside Mercantile in Maine in 2006.

What started out as a brick and mortar store to showcase Victoria Rattigan's wonderful designs quickly expanded with many complimentary brands and locally made products that reflect Sunshine's passion for creating a colorful, comfortable & a fun living experience for any home.
